It was a turbulent year for the Sindelfingen-based SOLO Kleinmotoren GmbH. First of all due to a slump in demand in the area of plant protection during the lockdown, which prevailed in many countries and thus also affected the sales partners at home and abroad. However, as SOLO sprayers and mistblowers can also be used to apply disinfectants, the order situation turned back into a positive direction. Nevertheless, the problems did not stop there: Suppliers were unable to work, thus interrupting the flow of materials into the factory. Likewise, the shortage of transport capacity worldwide was an increasing problem - both for purchasing goods and for shipping finished devices. At the end of the fiscal year on July 31st, SOLO is able to draw a positive balance: Due to the increase in demand in the field of disinfection, sales increased by 6 % compared to the previous fiscal year. One reason for this is certainly the consistent further development of the product range: a new sprayer and a new battery backpack sprayer were successfully launched on the global markets. The new SOLO 441 battery powered backpack sprayer marks the starting point for a new generation of modern battery sprayers made by SOLO, which will make the product range even more attractive in the coming years. This is also reflected in the very good order situation, so that the plant in Sindelfingen is well equipped to start a positive but certainly very busy second half of the calendar year.
With the new business year the SOLO management will be strengthened: Sascha Luft will be appointed managing director as of August 1st and will then lead the fortunes of SOLO in Sindelfingen and the other companies of the international group together with Andreas Emmerich. Sascha Luft has been part of the SOLO team for many years and has worked for the company in various positions. In the recent past, he has already been intensively involved in the management of the company as commercial manager and authorized signatory of Andreas Emmerich. This is a further building block for the future existence and continuity in the management of SOLO.
